Case Studies

When I started working with Martin, on the outside, I was perceived to be successful, happy and progressing in my career at pace. However, on the inside, I was suffering with chronic imposter syndrome, allowing self-limiting beliefs to stand in my way and permitting the environment I was operating within to negatively affect my self-esteem and behaviours.  I felt I was losing sight of what was truly important to me.

Where Were You Before?

How Did Coaching Help?

My coaching experience with Martin exceeded my expectations - I made huge strides in finding clarity on my purpose, values, strengths and what I want from my future - personally and professionally. We quickly built a trusting relationship where I felt seen and heard, with Martin playing back the essence of how I was feeling and what I was trying to articulate. Even during moments of overwhelm when I was struggling to think clearly, Martin seemed to be able to draw out important insights that helped me experience a number of breakthroughs during our sessions.

Where Are You Now?

Reflecting on my coaching experience, it’s remarkable the amount of progress and transformation I was able to make in less than a year!  Martin helped me on the journey from imposter syndrome to an empowered woman who knows what she wants and stands for in the world as well as the value she creates.  Thanks to my time with Martin I have gained a new perspective on how I shape my life and career to work for me - in line with my purpose, values and strengths.

I felt stuck in a negative space, frustrated about my career stalling and struggling with self-critique and self-blame.  I found myself constantly comparing myself to others – focusing on what I didn’t have rather than what I did, unable to enjoy the success of others and unable to celebrate what I do well.  My thinking was polarised from positive to negative and I was amplifying the importance of things in my own head, unable to explore the middle area between the two extremes.  This left me de-energised, drained and far from my best self.

How Did Coaching Help?

I knew it would have a positive impact, but I underestimated just how much it would help!  I was able to be open, honest and authentic and truly explore what was in my head – something I could not do alone or with anyone in the work environment.  It gave me structure to my thinking and provided tools and techniques to help me unpick and understand what was going on.  It also created some big ‘aha’ moments – shining a light on previous blind spots.

Where Are You Now?

I realise I was using the wrong vision of success.  I’ve changed my success criteria to include happiness, passion and all the things I’m good at – things that weren’t even in top 5 before!  “He’s got his handbrake on” was some previous feedback – I was guarded and risk-conscious and it was affecting my decisions.  Now I’m clearer about what I want & don’t’, what matters most and why I’m doing what I’m doing.  I’m back to a better version of me.  I feel comfortable, confident and calm.  I can be fully authentic and I’m seeing the positive impact this has around me.  Don’t underestimate the benefit of an authentic, honest coaching conversation – it’s liberating!

Before I started coaching, I had been unfulfilled in my career for a while but wasn’t sure what I wanted to do next. I felt like I wasn’t meeting my full potential or living my purpose, and something felt off and I wanted things to feel much better and be living more deliberately. I had some ideas of what I wanted to do but needed to make sure that I was making the right moves. I hoped to gain clarity on my values/purpose and how I could move forwards and away from this ‘stuck’ feeling I had which had left me paralysed and unable to decide.

Where Were You Before?

How Did Coaching Help?

Coaching was great, really insightful. Martin asked some thought-provoking questions that led me back to myself and my true nature and ultimately my values and purpose.

I enjoyed the exercises and especially those around my values and life stages. They enabled me to get more insight into my preferences/strengths and behaviours. This ultimately helped support my decisions for my next move. Martin's style is very calm, composed, non-judgemental and open and I always felt comfortable sharing my story with him. He was intuitive and could pick up on things that I hadn’t noticed such as what I sounded most enthusiastic about versus lower energy and the patterns of my past.

Where Are You Now?

This experience and the clarity and insight that was gained ultimately enabled me to secure a new higher paying job at a new company which would allow me to meet a short term goal and also enrol on a course that speaks to my passions and could end up being a future career path.  I feel excited about the future and more confident about my decisions as I feel that I have a roadmap of what is important to me that I can quickly refer to and ensure I am on track.  I would highly recommend Martin if you are feeling stuck in your career or life in general and would like to gain more clarity. He can really help you to set some clear goals and objectives based on your true values and purpose.
