What's Your Vision of Success?

Updated: Oct 3, 2021

vision of success

What does a positive vision of your future look like? Is it clear?

If you don't know what you're aiming for, it's a lot harder to achieve it!

And if you don't know why you're aiming for it, it's a lot harder to stay motivated to work for it.

Whether in your business, your career or your personal life, a clear vision of success can make all the difference.

Start with the End in Mind

Think about the thing you're striving for. Consider what it looks like, sounds like and feels like to have it.

Ask yourself the following:

  • Why do you want it?

  • How does it align to who you are?

  • Do you believe you can have it?

If you find yourself wavering on some of your answers you may find your vision is not compelling enough, or that your belief in your ability to achieve it is limited. This may require looking deeper at your reasons for it, perhaps with support.

Set Your Path

Think about where you are now, where you want to be, the gap you need to close and what you need in order to close it.

  • Consider the paths available to you and the relative merits of them

  • Consider your capabilities, your resources and your limitations

  • And consider the investment required to walk your chosen path

Is the journey as compelling as the destination? If not, committing to it might be a struggle!

Make sure you pick a path you actually want to walk and believe you can walk.

If all you can see is barriers, then make sure you address them first.

Stay on Track

Who and what will keep you on track?

And how will you know when you've lost your way?

Make sure you set goals and milestones that align to your vision, practise habits that align to your goals and have a support network to help you challenge and review your habits to keep you on track.

And remember...Your vision is bigger than your goals! Your vision's the thing that pulls your goals together, the thing your goals enable and your reason for having them.

  • Your vision isn't about doubling your business turnover, it's about having the business you want.

  • It's not about gaining a career promotion, it's about having the job you want.

  • And it's not even about climbing the mountain, it's having the sense of accomplishment and the view that you want.

Don't get lost pursuing goals that don't align to your vision!

Good luck!
