Would You Follow You?

Updated: Feb 5, 2021

There’s so much debate over what constitutes great leadership. This question for me cuts to the heart of it:

Would YOU follow YOU?

This isn't about impressing others or appearing competent or having status.

This is about the person you see in your mind’s eye that personifies great leadership - the person you would follow.

Are you there yet? If not, how do you get there? What do you need to work on?

And are you distracted by the wrong things?

Are you comparing yourself to people out there at the expense of the leader inside?

By contemplating the simple question of "would you follow you?" you gain insight into so much more!

You not only begin to recognise what you regard as great leadership, but more fundamentally what you value and admire in a human.

And this is why it’s such a powerful question –

By taking the time to identify what you value most in another, you build a vision of who you could be at your best – the person you’d be proud to be for all the right reasons for you.

So take some time to reflect -

What would it take for you to be the person you'd want to follow?

Good luck!

Martin
